The Season for Giving
As we go through this Christmas season, some people look at it as the time for getting. Unless you are a child or in dire need, I believe you should look at it as the season for giving instead. It really is great to be able to give.
Let’s look at some ways you can give this year through your business. You might be surprised to find out that sometimes you receive more when you give. After all, when you give to others, they often reciprocate by giving back to you.
First of all, you can give by giving better service to your customers. You can resolve to be more prompt in taking care of your customers. You can implement quality checklists, so that the quality of your work remains high.
Second, you can give little extra’s to your customers. You might have their home cleaned professionally after you complete a large job. You might send a fruit basket as a thank you for hiring you to do a job for them. Or you might decide to send a fun monthly newsletter starting this year.
Third, you could give by helping out with a charity this year. Habitat for Humanity is a great way for contractors to help out. If you do help with a charity, you might be able to get the local paper to report it or let people know about it in your advertising.
Fourth, you could give by offering a special or something free just for a new customer to try out your services. I know that we all hate to work for free, but if a new customer is treated properly and managed well, you would be surprised at how much they can be worth. I have many customers that call me for work over and over again. Some of them are worth ten’s of thousands of dollars over just a few years.
Regardless of which way you give through your business, I think you will find that if it is done with the right attitude and managed well, you will find that you will be blessed more by giving than by trying to take from others.
Have a great Christmas season and a prosperous New Year!
